Indiepop band Japancakes will be releasing its own track-by-track re-recording of My Bloody Valentine's essential, much-loved Loveless in November. The Darla Records release was pointed out to my by The Saturday Asylum, a fabulous blog I really should read more often. It's a lovely tribute to MBV's landmark shoegazer album. Am I really the last person on the Internet to find out about this? Damnit! Also in the works for the Athens, GA-based band? An album of original material (plus a beautiful reindition of Cocteau Twins' "Heaven or Las Vegas," that ethereally brilliant slice of 90s dream pop)... released today, actually.
