SB Tonight: The Deadly Syndrome, The Morning Benders

Unfortunately (well, not so unfortunately, really) I'll be en route to Austin, but those in Santa Barbara have something to look forward to: At Velvet Jones tonight, you can catch the Deadly Syndrome with the Morning Benders. I fell in love with the lo-fi folk pop that the Morning Benders play after hearing "Heavy Hearts," and had no idea they were on tonight's Velvet Jones bill until I got an e-mail about the Deadly Syndrome. Bummer. Anyhow, the Deadly Syndrome's album, The Ortolan came out yesterday, and it's definitely worth checking out. The L.A. band's grandiose folk music is epic, drawing more than a couple Arcade Fire comparisons, but they've got range... "Winter In You" is a bit quieter, and would you just listen to those lyrics? A lovely December chill will spread across your body.
