Joe Swanberg's film Hannah Takes The Stairs, which premiered at SXSW earlier this year to rave reviews, makes it to theaters tomorrow! Yeah, it'll be a limited release, but if you live anywhere near where it's playing (find out HERE), you'll want to check it out. I bought a DVD of an earlier film of Swanberg's (2005's Kissing On The Mouth) on a whim after seeing it being compared to earlier so-called "mumblecore" films I had enjoyed, Andrew Bujalski's Mutual Appreciation and Funny Ha Ha. It looks promising, as Hannah is pretty much a who's who of mumblecore filmmakers, including acting turns by Bujalski, Mark Duplass (co-director of The Puffy Chair), Ry Russo-Young (Orphans) and Todd Rohal (The Guatemalan Handshake). Greta Garwig plays the film's titular character, a recent college graduate interning at a Chicago production company, trying to sort our her feelings for her two co-workers, which may result in the disruption of their friendship. Apparently, according to IMDB, it also features a few songs from Swanberg's band, the Ice Cream Floats, which I posted about earlier.
