Tesco Chainstore Mascara

Love or hate their strange name (EDIT: Tesco's a UK-based grocery retailer... thanks, Wikipedia, and the name's a play on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Tesco Chainstore Mascara's got some great songs. Happy, sunny power pop with lovely harmonies and horns that your ears can't disagree with. They say it all in the title of the first track I'm posting, "Sun's Shinin' For You." The band's debut album is due out in the next few months, and the single, "Writer's Block," is out Aug. 17th from Simplistic Cow. Any band that covers "That Thing You Do!" (and boy, do they cover it well) gets my vote. Kind of a perfect song for this band. Listen at your own risk, though - this stuff will be stuck in your head all day.

"Sun's Shinin' For You" [MP3]** SERIOUSLY GOOD.
"That Thing You Do" [MP3]** I MEAN IT!
