BeatBeat Whisper

BeatBeat Whisper, comprised of Ayla and Davyd Nareo (either siblings or marrieds? Or some sort of White Stripes-style confusion…) are a psych/freak/(something like that) folk duo from the Bay Area (that’s Northern California, near San Francisco, for all y’all non-Californians). Ayla has a strange voice that warbles (I mean this in a good way) beautifully along with the gentle, flowing guitar accompaniment, and Davyd sings as well on other tracks from their album. If you’re a fan of Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, and other neo-folkies with non-traditional voices, you’ll love it. I’m pretty sure they came to Santa Barbara a few months ago and I missed it -- don't make the same mistake I did.
